Canadian designer Michael Rei creates everything from 3D products to custom design services for local and international clientele. He has worked with Labfifteen, New Dawn Hosting, Design Squad International and The Pure Simplicity Group among others. He considers design to be his hobby, so his career as his hobby keeps him busy around the clock. This guy hardly sleeps!

You can tell from his designs that he is confident in his design choices and that he loves what he does. He’s won numerous awards, including Site of the Month on We Love WP (Feb. 2008) and was featured on “Best Of” on TagSociety.

He designs Web sites, GUIs (graphic user interface), motion graphics, 3D design, and offers branding and identity services as well as marketing and SEO services.

Rei’s Work
Branding
His branding concepts really capture the look and feel of the company, which make them so successful. He captured MrsDealFinder’s feel with these branding buttons that are scattered across the blog. The blog has blue, green and white stripes across the top, with “MrsDealFinder” in pink as the header. Instead of finding another complementary color for the buttons, Rei simply separated the shades in the header to stand on their own.

3D
Rei is quite the 3D master – using Maxon Cinema 4D R10 to create awesome 3D reincarnations of cars like Mini Coopers and Lamborghinis to funky characters like Jimbob (who was created by accident).

Web Design
Rei’s Web designs are classic, yet casual. For instance, look at GetATrip.com, for which Rei designed and coded. The client, SeekThree LLC, wanted a site that had personality, unlike its competitors. Rei completed 3 basic page outlines including codes, XHTML and CSS in 4 days. Unfortunately, the domain has since expired, but I doubt it had anything to do with Rei’s design.

Blog Design
Gadgety was a quick project for Rei, as is many of his projects since he works efficiently and constantly. This one took two days and Rei had to follow a wireframe that the client requested be followed to a tee. A white/light gray color scheme and clean and simple layout were requested. This shows that Rei has the self-restraint to do what his clients request while still making it look good.

Auction
Rei also creates blog templates that can be bought at auction. Here’s one such example that has already been sold. This blog has a nice modern feel, with quick loading times, despite what looks to be deeply detailed graphics. Rei takes advantage of all the new features in WordPress 2.6 here. He likes to use a 2-column layout with 2 widgetized sidebars. His blogs include a strong commenting system (displays all text manipulation tags, etc.) and his blogs are cross-browser compatible.
